Who We Are

Applied Materials & Engineering, Inc. (AME)

Since 1988, Applied Materials & Engineering, Inc. has served as an independent agency providing construction materials inspection, consulting and testing services.

AME’s staff of engineers and certified field and laboratory technicians educated and trained in civil, structural, and metallurgical materials provide support to the construction industry for the following spectrum of services:

  • Special Inspections
  • Public Sector QA
  • Structural Investigations
  • Building Envelope & Consulting
  • Laboratory Testing
  • Petrography
The Company

OUR MISSION

Delivering across the board quality service without compromise.

What We Do

Special Inspections

Independent, code-mandated verification of materials for new construction, seismic and other structure upgrades. Our field staff ensures code compliance with IBC Chapter 17 requirements for all structural materials during construction of projects permitted by Cities, Counties, DSA, HCAI and the Fire Marshall.

Public Sector QA

We support civil projects by providing field and laboratory materials testing services for roadways, runways, bridges, and utilities—ensuring project materials meet Caltrans/FAA specifications and municipal public works standards.

Structural Investigations

Forensic assessment of existing buildings and structures. We utilize Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and advanced mapping techniques to evaluate structural integrity, assess damage, and uncover the root causes of distress.

Building Envelope & Consulting

Comprehensive solutions for the exterior skin of your building. From waterproofing design review to field window testing, we ensure your roofing, glazing, and cladding systems perform as intended.

Laboratory Testing

Fast, accurate material verification and quality control from our AASHTO, IAS, and DSA-accredited laboratory. We test concrete, asphalt, soils, and other construction materials to confirm compliance with project specifications and applicable standards.

Petrography

Advanced microscopic analysis for deep forensic insight. We examine the microstructure of concrete and rock to diagnose complex durability issues, such as Alkali-Silica Reaction (ASR), chemical attack, and fire damage.

Advanced Expertise

Specialized Capabilities

  • Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP): Inspection and testing of FRP composite systems used for structural strengthening.
  • Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR): Non-destructive scanning to locate rebar, post-tension cables, and conduits prior to coring or drilling.
  • Window Testing: In-situ water penetration and air infiltration testing for high-performance glazing and curtain walls.
  • Floor Flatness/Levelness (FF/FL): Profiling of concrete slabs to verify compliance with strict surface tolerance specifications.
  • Petrography, FTIR, XRD: Advanced forensic analysis using microscopy and spectroscopy to determine chemical composition and diagnose material failures.
  • GFRC: Quality assurance for Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete cladding, including plant fabrication inspections.
  • Solar Mount: Product testing and evaluations.
  • Weldability: Chemical and mechanical assessment of existing steel to determine carbon equivalence and welding procedures for renovation.
